Calder Quartet

Following an evening of chamber music, the Calder Quartet joins us for a second night of music—this time as part of our Tentacle Sessions series, where they will demonstrate their uncanny virtuosity performing works by living composers, including the new piece Mobile on a Stream Into the Now by rising-star Andy Akiho. An eclectic composer and performer whose interests run from steelpan to classical music, Akiho is receiving international attention for his rhythmic compositions. With co-commissioning support from the Carlsbad Music Festival and ArtPower!, Akiho will create a new work to be debuted, most fittingly, by musicians who are recognized for championing the next generation of composers.
